Jennifer Davey: What Lies Beneath
December 13, 2019 through February 1, 2020
What Lies Beneath is a body of work that explores the current culture of polarization, disconnection, and anger. She contemplates the underlying forces that cause our emotional responses to be positive or negative. She questions the influences that cause us to either thrive or destroy, Isolate or connect and react in anger rather than love.
Inspired by her own personal experiences she had spent the last two years investigating the emotional states of being in through her paintings. Her work is a visual response that delves deep into each emotional state. Each work is layered with visual cues that dictate the need for contemplation. This body of work promotes contemplation, meditation and asks the viewer to slow down and listen.
Jennifer Davey’s work is held in multiple private and public collections and has been exhibited both regionally and nationally. In 2018, she was accepted into the 3-year painting mentorship program at Anderson Ranch, studying with contemporary artist Enrique Martinez Celaya. She currently works at The Clyfford Still Museum in Denver, CO. Her studio is at Artworks Loveland, in Loveland, Colorado. She completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Colorado State University in Sculpture, with a K-12 art teaching license and a minor in Japanese.

Here and Gone: Jennifer Rife
January 10th – February 29th
Conversations with the Artist: January 21st 6pm
Here and Gone is a body of work that asks the audience to contemplate the interactions of humans with the earth. Rife’s work brings to the forefront an awareness of our everyday lives and how we impact our environment and the physical markings that are left behind by changing the very characteristics of the land. Here and Gone documents that process, visually capturing the scars left upon the ground. Rife further archives the geographical coordinates that relay a global panorama beyond our immediate perspectives.

The book has long been treasured as a literary work of art, but it is often forgotten in the realm of visual art. Book arts have been around as long as humanity has been writing and reading, but within the last couple of decades, the book arts have become increasingly diverse and innovative. In this exhibit, viewers will see both 2D and 3D works of art that range in size from small, handmade books to floor to ceiling book art installations.
