Eight Minutes of Light: The Energy of Numbers in Poetry – with Veronica Patterson

January 13 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

$15 – $20

From Wallace Stevens’s ways of looking at a blackbird (and Aaron Abeyta’s at a tortilla) to Walt Whitman’s “sextillions” to Jane Kenyon’s “Three Small Oranges” to the measuring in Yehudi Amichai’s “The Diameter of the Bomb” to Jane Hirshfield’s “The Heart’s Counting Knows Only One,” numbers, counting, and measurements have ways of engaging us and pulling us into a poem.

In this generative workshop, we’ll look at a few poems and then use prompts to experiment with how numbers can leaven our writing.
